Manuel Echazabal is a saxophonist, woodwinds player, and composer living in Miami, FL. Manny has recently finished his Bachelors Degree at the University of Miami majoring in Studio Music and Jazz Performance. While he was in school, Manny played in various school ensembles including the Frost Concert Jazz Band under the direction of John Daversa.
In his time at the University Miami, he has shared the stage with such artists as Danilo Perez, Vince Mendoza, Maria Schneider, Dave Liebman, James Torme, and Kevin Spacey to name a few.
In his career, Manuel Echazabal has also performed in several jazz festivals including the Amelia Island Jazz Festival, Festival Miami, Coconut Grove Arts Festival, and the Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey California. He has recently returned to Monterey early this September to play at the Monterey Jazz Festival with the UM Frost Concert Jazz Band.
Manuel has also been recognized for his work as a bandleader. His submissions of two of his compositions “Unknown Identity” and “Spt” has won him a Downbeat award for Outstanding Small Group Performance.
